The Difference Between Fresh Whole Leaf Cascade Hops And Nugget Hops

The stability and flavor of a beer depends largely on the variety of hops that are used for making it. While you can easily buy the varieties that are easily available in organic hop farms Virginia, it is important to know how one important variety differs from the other.

Fresh whole leaf cascade hops

Falling in the bracket of 4.5 to 7% acid range, fresh whole leaf cascade hops are a largely successful aroma hop that is widely used in breweries. The quality of its scent is a blend of floral notes, a citrus tinge, and an overall spicy, grapefruit-like characteristic.

Nugget hops

Much different from cascade hops, the acid range in case of nugget hops varies between 11.5 and 14%. When it comes to aroma, these hops are primarily marked by a dominating resiny flavor, which works fine given the fact that these are mostly considered as one of the varieties of bittering hops. Another point of difference is that nugget hops are slightly more expensive than cascade hops.

Irrespective of the kind of hops you choose to buy, you should make sure that you do not accept a packaging that is not properly vacuum sealed so that the quality remains intact.
